South Africa’s most celebrated Women’s Month sporting event, the Totalsports Women’s Race, is set to make a powerful return in August 2026, bringing together tens of thousands of women across three iconic cities in a vibrant display of unity, fitness, and empowerment.

Organisers have officially confirmed that the race will once again take place over three consecutive Sundays, beginning in Durban on 2 August, moving to Cape Town on 9 August, and culminating in Johannesburg on 16 August 2026.

A Celebration of Strength, Unity, and Movement

With participation numbers exceeding 30,000 annually, the Totalsports Women’s Race has firmly established itself as South Africa’s largest Women’s Month celebration. Open to both seasoned athletes and first-time participants, the event offers 5km and 10km race options, creating an inclusive environment where women of all fitness levels can take part.

Speaking on the announcement, Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports, highlighted the race’s enduring appeal and purpose.

“We’re excited to confirm the dates for South Africa’s largest Women’s Month celebration. Each year, thousands of women come together to embrace the joy of movement on scenic routes. Whether running or walking, the event celebrates inclusivity, empowerment, and the remarkable achievements of women in a supportive and energetic environment,” Meyer said.

Elite Competition Meets Community Spirit

Beyond its mass participation appeal, the 2026 edition will once again provide a competitive platform for South Africa’s top female athletes. Meyer emphasised that the race offers a rare opportunity for elite runners to compete in a world-class, women-only environment on home soil, across three separate events.

“We’re committed to raising the bar for women’s racing while delivering an electrifying atmosphere that resonates with both participants and spectators,” he added.

This blend of elite sport and grassroots participation has become a defining feature of the race, making it both a high-performance competition and a powerful social movement.

More Than a Race

Adding to the significance of the event, Nikki Crous, Head of Marketing at Totalsports, underscored the broader cultural and social impact of the race.

“The Totalsports Women’s Race is about far more than running or walking. It’s about uniting women from all walks of life to celebrate resilience, strength, and community. Each city offers a unique and unforgettable experience, from coastal routes to urban energy,” Crous explained.

Driving Awareness Beyond the Finish Line

A key pillar of the event remains its ongoing partnership with PinkDrive, a non-profit organisation dedicated to raising awareness around breast cancer and providing critical services to medically uninsured communities.

Through this collaboration, every stride taken by participants contributes to a larger cause, reinforcing the race’s commitment to health advocacy and social impact.
