TSHWANE – Mamelodi Sundowns have officially unveiled their striking new PUMA Home kit for the 2026/27 season, with the iconic jersey becoming the first in the club’s history to feature two CAF Champions League stars following the Brazilians’ latest continental triumph.

The launch marks more than the arrival of a new playing strip—it celebrates one of the most successful eras in the club’s history while honouring the legendary teams and players who built the foundation of the “shoeshine and piano” football philosophy.

Inspired by the jersey worn during the club’s memorable 1994 campaign, the new design blends nostalgia with modern innovation, symbolising Sundowns’ journey from domestic powerhouse to two-time champions of Africa.

A Jersey Rich in History

The new Home kit revives one of the club’s most recognisable colour combinations, featuring a bright yellow shirt, blue shorts and white socks—a look synonymous with the Sundowns identity.

PUMA has modernised the classic design with subtle embossed yellow striping, striking red PUMA logos and a distinctive green stripe on the collar, echoing the shirt that appeared on the cover of the very first edition of Kick Off magazine in February 1994.

Most notably, two stars now proudly sit above the club crest, commemorating Sundowns’ second CAF Champions League title secured in May 2026.

“Shine on Masandawana”

The launch is accompanied by PUMA’s new campaign, “Shine on Masandawana,” which brings together generations of Sundowns greatness.

Current stars Grant Kenana, Thapelo Morena, Malibongwe Khoza and Kutlwano Letlhaku headline the campaign alongside club legends Daniel “Mambush” Mudau, Roger Feutmba and former captain Hlompho Kekana, who famously lifted the club’s first CAF Champions League trophy in 2016.

The campaign celebrates not only today’s champions but also the players whose achievements established Sundowns as one of Africa’s most dominant football institutions.

The legendary 1994 squad—featuring icons including Ernest Mtawali, Phil Masinga, Bennet Masinga, Sam “Ewe” Kambule, Joel “Fire” Masilela, Zane Moosa, Sizwe Motaung and goalkeeper Mark Anderson—is also recognised for pioneering the attractive attacking football that continues to define the club.

Celebrating a Decade of Partnership

PUMA South Africa Marketing Director Brett Bellinger described the jersey as a tribute to every generation that has contributed to Sundowns’ remarkable legacy.

“Mamelodi Sundowns and PUMA have formed a formidable team over the past decade and with the new kit we wanted to honour and celebrate all the players who have contributed to the club’s successful legacy,” he said.

“It is fitting that this ‘Shine on Masandawana’ kit will be the first to feature a second star marking the club’s latest CAF Champions League win. More evidence that with Masandawana, the sky is the limit.”

A Symbol of African Excellence

Former captain Hlompho Kekana, who led Sundowns to their historic first continental title in 2016, believes the new jersey carries deep emotional significance.

“We felt different as players when we started wearing the PUMA kit in 2016 because it reminded us of the great history between the club and the brand,” Kekana said.

“The new jersey, which is the first edition with two stars above the club’s crest, is a piece of history. It pays homage to the past while celebrating Mamelodi Sundowns as the Champions of Africa.”

Built for Champions

Supporters will have the choice between two official versions of the jersey.

The Authentic match shirt features PUMA’s ULTRAWEAVE ultra-lightweight performance fabric, complemented by dryCELL moisture-management and ThermoAdapt cooling technologies to maximise comfort and performance on the pitch.

The Replica version is manufactured using recycled polyester, offering supporters a more sustainable way to wear the famous yellow colours.

The new 2026/27 Home kit goes on sale from 31 July 2026.

Prices are:

With two stars now proudly stitched above the famous crest, the latest PUMA Home kit represents far more than a new season’s uniform. It is a celebration of three decades of excellence, a tribute to generations of Sundowns legends and a bold statement that the reigning African champions have no intention of slowing down as they continue their pursuit of domestic and continental dominance.
