Gqeberha is primed to ignite the 2026 Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series in spectacular fashion as it hosts the Absa RUN YOUR CITY GQEBERHA 10K, celebrating its fourth anniversary as the official curtain-raiser to South Africa’s premier road-running series.

Since its launch in 2023, the Gqeberha leg has rapidly cemented its reputation as one of the most exciting and runner-loved races on the national calendar. Renowned for its fast, flat and record-friendly route, the event consistently attracts elite athletes chasing world-class performances, while simultaneously offering an electrifying experience for social runners and first-timers alike.

But this race is about far more than speed.

Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Eastern Cape coastline, the Gqeberha 10K is equally celebrated for its immersive on-route entertainment, transforming the city into a living, breathing festival of movement, music and culture. From the starting gun to the final sprint, runners are carried kilometre by kilometre by high-energy activations, live performances and animated supporter zones that make every step unforgettable.

Runners can look forward to vibrant activations from key series partners including Absa, PUMA, Powerade, AVIS and Heineken, complemented by flag bearers, interactivate performance zones and locally inspired entertainment that celebrates the city’s spirit and rhythm.
