CAPE TOWN – The road to one of the world’s most iconic road races has officially begun.
The 2027 Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon powered by BYD opened its first official entry window on Wednesday, 15 July 2026, welcoming the event’s most loyal runners as Yellow and Blue Number Club (BNC) members were given exclusive early access to secure their place on the start line of the race famously known as “The World’s Most Beautiful Marathon.”
Eligible members have until 22 July 2026 to confirm their entries before the event moves into its next entry phase, marking the beginning of another exciting countdown to Easter weekend in Cape Town.
Rewarding Loyalty
For organisers, the annual Blue Number Club entry window is more than simply opening registrations—it is an opportunity to honour runners whose dedication has become part of the race’s rich history.
Chris Goldschmidt, Chairperson of the Two Oceans Marathon NPC, said the exclusive window recognises athletes who have embraced the event’s traditions over many years.
“The opening of the Yellow and Blue Number Club entry window is always a special milestone in our journey to race day. It is our way of recognising and rewarding the loyalty of runners who have embraced the spirit and tradition of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon powered by BYD over many years.”
He added that organisers are excited to welcome long-standing participants back as preparations begin for another memorable edition of the globally celebrated event.

The Countdown Is On
For Wade Bromfield, Event Director of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon powered by BYD, the opening of entries signals the official start of months of anticipation leading up to race weekend.
“The exclusive Yellow and Blue Number Club entry period marks the first major milestone on the road to the 2027 Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon powered by BYD.”
He encouraged all eligible members to make use of the dedicated entry period while highlighting the extensive planning already underway behind the scenes.
“Although preparations have been ongoing for some time, there is always a unique excitement when we officially welcome our loyal runners back onto the journey towards race day.”

One of the World’s Premier Running Festivals
The Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon has earned international recognition for its breathtaking scenery, world-class organisation and vibrant atmosphere, attracting elite athletes, recreational runners and international visitors alike.
The 2027 festival will once again transform Cape Town into the heart of South African road running, with five major events taking place over Easter weekend.
The programme begins on 31 March 2027 with the popular 8km Night Run, followed by the International Friendship Run on 1 April, the Trail Runs on 2 April, the 21.1km Half Marathon on 3 April, and culminates with the iconic 56km Ultra Marathon on Sunday, 4 April 2027.
Together, the events are expected to attract tens of thousands of runners from South Africa and around the world.

Massive Participation Expected
The flagship races continue to enjoy enormous popularity.
Both the Half Marathon and Ultra Marathon will accommodate up to 21,000 participants each, while the Night Run, Friendship Run and Trail Runs add thousands more runners to what has become one of Africa’s largest and most prestigious running festivals.
Following the Blue Number Club entry period, public participation for the Half Marathon and Ultra Marathon will be determined through the official ballot process, which opens on 5 August 2026.
Entries for the Night Run, Friendship Run and Trail Runs will become available from 3 August 2026.
