Mpumalanga – The South African Police Service (SAPS) has issued an urgent appeal to the public for assistance in locating 14-year-old Promise Thembelihle Mthombothi, who has been reported missing under concerning circumstances.
Promise, a resident of Thekwane South near KaNyamazane, was reported missing after she disappeared on 16 January 2026. Her disappearance has raised serious concern among her family and the local community, prompting police to launch an active search.
Public Urged to Assist
Police have confirmed that a missing persons case has been opened and investigations are ongoing. Officers are following up on all available leads and are appealing to members of the public to assist with any information that may help trace the teenager’s whereabouts.
A SAPS spokesperson said community cooperation remains critical in cases of missing persons.
“We appeal to anyone who may have information regarding the whereabouts of Promise Thembelihle Mthombothi to come forward immediately. Even the smallest detail could assist in bringing her home safely.”
