MERAFONG, GAUTENG – Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Kedibone Diale-Tlabela, has led a high-impact service delivery intervention in Merafong, underscoring the provincial government’s renewed commitment to restoring critical road infrastructure and improving the quality of life for residents.
The intervention forms part of the Aga Le Rona Programme, a targeted two-month initiative designed to accelerate visible service delivery through coordinated action between provincial and local government.
Joining the MEC on the ground was Merafong Executive Mayor, Councillor Nozuko Best, together with senior officials from the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport and the Merafong Local Municipality.
The multi-faceted intervention saw teams carrying out pothole repairs, litter collection, road marking, street cleaning and general environmental beautification—efforts aimed at improving road safety, enhancing public spaces and creating cleaner, more liveable communities.

Speaking during the intervention, MEC Diale-Tlabela said the programme represents a decisive shift towards responsive governance and tangible service delivery.
“This intervention forms part of the Aga Le Rona Programme, which is aimed at accelerating visible service delivery over a two-month period. Through coordinated action, we are addressing critical infrastructure challenges while restoring the pride and dignity of our communities,” she said.
She emphasised that the initiative is not a once-off campaign but a sustained programme focused on delivering measurable improvements within a short period.
“This programme is about restoring dignity and ensuring that our communities experience real change. We are bringing all our resources together and working collaboratively with municipalities to fast-track service delivery,” said Diale-Tlabela.

The intervention reflects the Gauteng Provincial Government’s broader strategy of strengthening partnerships with municipalities to address long-standing infrastructure backlogs and improve the condition of provincial and municipal road networks.
Officials say the collaborative approach will ensure resources are deployed more effectively while improving the efficiency of service delivery across communities.
The Department of Roads and Transport has committed to maintaining close collaboration with local government structures and community stakeholders throughout the implementation of the Aga Le Rona Programme to ensure the intervention delivers sustainable, long-term outcomes.
