In a bold initiative to enhance the financial literacy of creatives, Lawyers For The Arts South Africa (LASA) is hosting a comprehensive Financial and Estate Planning Workshop aimed at artists spanning various industries. This pivotal event is scheduled for Friday, 12 September 2025, at the McDonald’s South Africa Headquarters located at 85 Grayston Drive, Morningside, Sandton, running from 08:00 to 16:00.
Financing art is often overshadowed by the creative process itself, leaving many talented individuals vulnerable in terms of their financial sustainability and legacy management. Recognising this gap, LASA aims to equip artists with indispensable knowledge and practical tools essential for securing their financial future. The workshop will provide insights into crucial topics such as estate planning, financial management, and long-term wealth protection, which are frequently neglected in the creative sector.
This year, LASA is privileged to collaborate with esteemed partners who share their vision:
- McDonald’s South Africa – Host partner
- The Law Society of South Africa – Professional partner supporting National Wills Week
- Mpumalanga Film Festival – Offering a weekend getaway to the Kruger National Park as a prize for one lucky participant
- FNB – Financial partner
- Tshaya Mashabela, Attorney – Legal partner
- Mbuyisa Advisory Services – Supporting partner
“We believe that financial literacy and estate planning are critical for creatives, who contribute immensely to South Africa’s cultural and economic landscape. This workshop provides practical tools for artists to build sustainable futures and protect their legacies,” commented Lerato Moloi, Founder and CEO of Lawyers For The Arts South Africa.
The event will feature interactive sessions designed to foster engagement, alongside networking opportunities that allow participants to connect with industry professionals and fellow creatives. As an added incentive, the workshop will include a special prize draw courtesy of the Mpumalanga Film Festival, enhancing the excitement of this enriching experience.
As South Africa’s creative industry continues to flourish, workshops like this promise a significant stride towards ensuring its sustainability. Creatives are encouraged to register for this landmark event and take the vital first step towards securing their financial heritage.
