Mogale City, Gauteng — The Gauteng Provincial Government is set to intensify service delivery efforts in Mogale City with the launch of a large-scale, high-impact community intervention aimed at improving infrastructure, restoring dignity, and addressing long-standing service delivery challenges.

The initiative, led by the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport (GDRT) in partnership with Mogale City Local Municipality, will take place on Monday, 2 February 2026, targeting Ext 2, Ext 3, and Azaadville.

The programme will be spearheaded by Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Kedibone Diale-Tlabela, alongside Mogale City Executive Mayor, Councillor Lucky Sele, with senior officials and multi-disciplinary teams deployed directly into communities.

Hands-On Service Delivery on the Ground

From 08h00, residents can expect a coordinated rollout of essential services aimed at improving living conditions and addressing long-standing community concerns. Planned interventions include:

  • Tree planting and environmental maintenance
  • Streetlight repairs and restoration
  • Roadblocks and traffic management operations
  • Enforcement of municipal by-laws
  • Sewer unblocking and sanitation services
  • Informal business registration and support
  • Clearing of illegal dumping sites
  • Indigent registrations and social support services
  • Walk-in assistance for municipal services, including accounts, libraries and education support

The initiative forms part of government’s broader strategy to bring services closer to communities, improve turnaround times, and ensure accountability through visible, on-the-ground action.

Restoring Dignity and Strengthening Accountability

Officials say the programme goes beyond routine municipal operations, focusing on restoring dignity, improving safety, and fostering trust between government and residents.

Community members will also have an opportunity to engage directly with political leadership and senior officials, allowing concerns to be addressed immediately or escalated where necessary.

“This intervention reflects government’s commitment to responsive governance and service excellence. It is about meeting residents where they are and ensuring real, tangible improvements are delivered,” officials said.
