Johannesburg, 29 September 2025 – South Africa’s skies just got brighter for six ambitious entrepreneurs, thanks to FlySafair’s annual Business Booster Competition, now in its fourth year. The initiative, which has become a beacon of hope and growth for small businesses nationwide, once again underscored the airline’s belief that entrepreneurship is not just about profit—it’s about impact, resilience, and nation-building.

From publishing houses amplifying African voices to health brands redefining nutrition, the six winners of 2025 embody the spirit of innovation that is driving South Africa forward.

“This competition is about more than just flights—it’s about giving small businesses the opportunity to fly higher,” said Kirby Gordon, Chief Marketing Officer at FlySafair. “Each of these winners is making a meaningful impact in their communities, and we’re proud to support their journeys.”

The 2025 Winners

Asante Publishers

Founded by Mlondolozi Mazibuko, Asante Publishers is a proudly South African publishing and printing company committed to amplifying African stories. With FlySafair’s support, the team will travel across the country to connect with authors, attend book fairs, and host literacy workshops.

“This win allows us to scale our services and deepen our community impact,” said Mazibuko.

The Glow Co

Led by Brogan Metcalfe, The Glow Co designs bespoke LED neon signage that lights up events, homes, and brand activations. The flights will enable expansion into new cities and participation in industry events.

“This gives our small business the boost we need to grow sustainably and build something we’re truly proud of,” said Metcalfe.

Baaa Health

Founded by Bontle Tshole, Baaa Health is reshaping the wellness landscape with functional snacks and drinks that fuel purpose through nutrition. With new routes ahead, the brand plans to grow into the Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, and Mpumalanga.

“This win means giving more people an opportunity to change their lives through healthy living,” said Tshole.

Browny Box Packaging Solutions

Under the leadership of Nikita Brown, Browny Box crafts custom, eco-friendly packaging that reimagines the unboxing experience. The flights will help connect with new clients and open doors at packaging expos.

“This campaign is a powerful reminder that small businesses can make a big impact when passion meets purpose,” said Brown.

Blackbird Creations

Founded by Nandipha Makhaye, this architectural and interior design studio is dedicated to crafting transformative spaces. With FlySafair’s support, the business aims to expand nationally and attend high-profile design exhibitions.

“This opportunity reminds us that small businesses can dream boldly and achieve big things when passion meets perseverance,” said Makhaye.

Viral Ventures

Helmed by Carmen Blumrick, Viral Ventures is a social media marketing studio committed to helping brands thrive online. The flights will allow the team to build content libraries, engage with clients in person, and extend their impact.

“It’s honestly been such a blessing to have this opportunity,” said Blumrick. “We’ve worked so hard on our business, and something like this makes all those long hours and sleepless nights extra worth it.”

Celebrating Entrepreneurship with Real Impact

Each winner receives 10 return domestic Business Class flights alongside a suite of brand-building opportunities, including a feature on FlySafair’s website, a full-page advert in its InFlight magazine, and visibility across social media platforms.

Since its inception in 2022, the competition has supported 24 businesses spanning industries as diverse as fashion, publishing, fitness, and packaging. It reflects FlySafair’s deeper commitment to creating an inclusive economy by giving small businesses the resources to grow.

“In a country where unemployment is still high, support for small businesses is vital,” Gordon emphasized. “By providing these entrepreneurs with the resources they need to grow and build, we hope to contribute to a more inclusive economy for all.”

Looking Ahead

For the 2025 winners, the journey is just beginning. With flights in hand and visibility on a national stage, each has been given not only wings but also recognition. Together, they represent the heartbeat of South African entrepreneurship: bold, resilient, and determined to uplift their communities.

As FlySafair congratulates this year’s winners, the message is clear: when small businesses soar, the whole nation rises.
