Adding checked baggage in advance through online booking platforms not only saves time but can also reduce costs, easing congestion at airport counters.
4. Protect and Organise Devices
Using cable organisers and protective sleeves helps prevent damage and speeds up repacking after security checks.
5. Check Carry-On Limits
Passengers are reminded to confirm size and weight restrictions for cabin baggage to avoid last-minute inconvenience at boarding gates.
Understanding Power Bank Regulations
A key focus of FlySafair’s advisory is the correct handling of power banks and lithium-ion batteries—an area where many travellers are often caught off guard.
Due to international aviation safety regulations:
- Power banks must always be carried in cabin baggage
- Batteries under 100Wh are generally permitted without approval
- Batteries between 100Wh and 160Wh require airline approval
- Batteries exceeding 160Wh are strictly prohibited on passenger aircraft
Passengers are also reminded to remove power banks from carry-on bags if those bags are placed in the aircraft hold at boarding.
