Dakar, Senegal – 17 March 2026 — The Basketball Africa League (BAL) has announced a major commercial milestone, unveiling PUMA as its Official Outfitter in a new multiyear partnership set to debut with the 2026 season.

The agreement signals a significant step in the league’s continued growth, aligning Africa’s premier club basketball competition with one of the world’s leading sportswear brands.

Elevating the Game On and Off the Court

Under the partnership, PUMA will supply all official apparel for the BAL, including:

  • Team game uniforms
  • Warm-up and training gear
  • Referee kits
  • Fan merchandise and accessories

The collaboration will also extend to apparel for participants in the league’s social impact and player development programmes, reinforcing a shared vision to grow basketball across the continent.

BAL President Amadou Gallo Fall said the partnership reflects a strategic alignment between sport, culture and innovation.

“Our collaboration with PUMA reflects our shared commitment to elevating the African sports industry and basketball in particular,” Fall said.
“PUMA’s innovation, creativity and deep connection to the continent’s sports ecosystem make them an ideal partner to help us raise the standard of African basketball and enhance the experience for teams, players and fans.”

Global Brand, African Stage

For PUMA, the deal strengthens its footprint in basketball and underscores its broader ambition to expand the sport globally.

Johan Adamsson, Vice President of Sports Marketing and Sport Licensing at PUMA, highlighted the strategic importance of the collaboration.

“The collaboration with the BAL is an important step in PUMA’s commitment to growing the game worldwide. We look forward to bringing our performance technology to the forefront and connecting with BAL fans globally,” he said.

Season Set to Tip Off in South Africa

The sixth BAL season will tip off on Friday, 27 March 2026 at the SunBet Arena, marking the start of another highly anticipated campaign featuring 12 top club teams from across Africa.

Fans attending games will have access not only to on-court action but also to the BAL Fan Zone, enhancing the matchday experience with entertainment and cultural engagement.

Expanding Commercial Ecosystem

PUMA joins an expanding roster of BAL partners, including:

  • Rwanda Development Board (Foundational Partner)
  • Afreximbank
  • Air Senegal
  • Amazon Web Services
  • Castle Lite
  • RwandAir

This growing commercial ecosystem reflects increasing investor confidence in African basketball as both a sporting and business platform.

Fan Engagement and Retail Access

The new BAL fanwear collection—designed to reflect the energy, diversity and creativity of African basketball culture—will be available through multiple retail channels, including:

  • BAL and PUMA e-commerce platforms
  • NBA Stores
  • Select PUMA retail outlets in South Africa
  • Arena merchandise stands during games

Driving the Future of African Basketball

Launched through a partnership between FIBA and NBA Africa, the BAL represents the NBA’s first effort to operate a professional league outside North America.

Now entering its sixth season, the league continues to grow in stature—both as a competitive platform and as a driver of sports development, youth engagement and commercial investment across Africa.

With the addition of PUMA, the BAL strengthens its position at the intersection of sport, culture and business—setting the stage for a season that promises not only high-level basketball, but a broader celebration of African talent and identity.
