Pretoria, South Africa — In a strategic leadership appointment that underscores experience and continuity, Bryan O’Connor has returned to Time Square Casino as General Manager, marking a full-circle moment in a career spanning more than two decades in the gaming and hospitality industry.

O’Connor’s return follows a successful tenure at Carnival City Casino, where he served as General Manager from May 2024. During his time there, he was credited with driving operational improvements, fostering innovation, and strengthening team performance in an increasingly competitive gaming environment.

Widely regarded for his leadership acumen and operational depth, O’Connor brings a blend of gaming expertise and hospitality insight to his new role. His career began at Sugar Mill Casino, where he worked as a training officer—laying the foundation for a trajectory defined by steady progression and strategic impact.

His association with Time Square dates back to 2017, when he joined the then newly developed casino complex in Pretoria. There, he played a key role in establishing the food and beverage division, contributing to the property’s early operational success. By 2020, his performance earned him promotion to Operations Manager, further cementing his reputation as a results-driven leader.

Now returning to the flagship venue in a more senior capacity, O’Connor is expected to build on that legacy while navigating the evolving demands of the gaming and entertainment sector.

“I am honoured to be stepping into this position, and I look forward to working alongside the team at Time Square to ensure that we go above and beyond meeting the expectations of our guests,” O’Connor said.

His leadership style—centred on team empowerment, accountability, and performance excellence—has been a defining feature of his career. Colleagues and industry observers note his ability to align operational execution with broader business strategy, particularly in high-pressure, customer-centric environments.

Academically, O’Connor holds a National Diploma in Hospitality Management as well as a BTech degree in Human Resource Development, equipping him with both the technical and people-management skills required to lead large-scale operations.

Beyond the boardroom, he is known for his passion for long-distance running, a pursuit he says mirrors his professional philosophy of setting clear goals and consistently striving to achieve them.

His appointment comes at a time when South Africa’s gaming and hospitality sector is undergoing rapid transformation, driven by changing consumer preferences, technological advancements, and increased competition. With his deep industry experience and prior knowledge of the Time Square operation, O’Connor is well-positioned to steer the property through its next phase of growth.

As he steps back into familiar territory, the focus will be on sustaining operational excellence while enhancing the overall guest experience—ensuring that Time Square Casino remains a leading destination in the country’s entertainment landscape.
