A Celebration of Trail Running and Natural Beauty
Race organisers praised the continued growth and appeal of the Trail Run, which blends athletic challenge with the unmatched scenery of the Cape.
Chris Goldschmidt, Chairperson of the Two Oceans Marathon NPC, highlighted the event’s unique appeal: “These trail runs give participants a chance to experience the natural beauty of the Cape Peninsula while enjoying the camaraderie that defines this iconic race.”
Echoing this sentiment, General Manager Wade Bromfield noted the Trail Run’s importance in setting the tone for the weekend. “It’s a fantastic way to kick off proceedings and showcase a different dimension of the event. The smiles at the finish line say it all.”
Setting the Stage for a Historic Weekend
The Trail Run forms part of the broader Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon weekend, which continues with the prestigious Ultra Marathon on Saturday, followed by the Half Marathon on Sunday.
With a combined prize purse of R2.6 million and a world-class field set to compete, the stage is now firmly set for another memorable chapter in what is widely celebrated as “the world’s most beautiful marathon.”
As runners descended from the slopes of Table Mountain, one thing was clear: the spirit of trail running is alive and thriving in Cape Town—where challenge meets beauty, and every step tells a story.
