TuksNetball has wasted no time in asserting its intent for 2026, launching the year with momentum, national representation and a renewed commitment to excellence under the TuksSport theme of “Elevate.”

If the opening weeks are any indication, the Stripe Generation is not merely embracing the theme — it is embodying it.

National Recognition and International Exposure

A significant number of TuksNetball players have already featured in international competition after representing the SPAR Proteas, reinforcing the programme’s status as one of the country’s premier talent pipelines.

That momentum follows a remarkable showing at the U/21 Junior World Cup, where eight University of Pretoria student-athletes earned national selection — a powerful indicator of depth, succession planning and elite-level preparation within the programme.

The result is a squad steeped in high-performance exposure, international experience and competitive maturity — assets that will prove invaluable as the domestic season unfolds.

Roadshow Impact: Growing the Game in KZN

But elevation at TuksNetball is not limited to podium finishes and national call-ups.

The team travelled to KwaZulu-Natal earlier this year for a developmental roadshow, where players and coaching staff invested time in grassroots engagement — sharing tactical insights, technical skills and performance habits with young, aspiring netballers.

The initiative also served as an induction platform for first-year student-athletes, introducing them to the high-performance culture synonymous with TuksSport.

This dual focus — elite competition and community upliftment — reflects a programme intent on strengthening the entire netball ecosystem, not just its own trophy cabinet.

Building Future Champions at Camp Discovery

TuksNetball’s first Netball Camp of 2026, hosted at Camp Discovery, further reinforced its developmental footprint.

Under the leadership of Head Coach Amanda Mynhardt, the camp delivered a structured and immersive experience for participating schools. The coaching team included accomplished players such as Kyla Dames, Caroline Paul, Luca Keun and Phopi Nematangari, while National Coach and Tuks alumna Jenny van Dyk spearheaded specialised Coach-to-Coach sessions.

The weekend focused on tactical refinement, conditioning principles, and strategic frameworks designed to prepare schools for the upcoming season — aligning grassroots structures with elite standards.

A Winning Culture Reclaimed

Looking ahead, TuksNetball is focused on consolidating its winning identity — on and off the court.

The 2025 season saw several key players unavailable for university competition due to national commitments. While that underscores the programme’s strength, it also limited squad continuity.

In 2026, the anticipation of a fuller roster signals renewed cohesion and strategic depth.

The objective is clear: restore dominance domestically while maintaining international relevance.

With national representatives returning, a strengthened leadership core and a developmental pipeline already bearing fruit, TuksNetball enters the season not as a rebuilding unit — but as a refined, recalibrated contender.

If “Elevate” is the mandate, then early signs suggest the Stripe Generation is already operating at altitude.
