JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – South Africa’s biggest celebration of women’s road running is set to return in spectacular fashion this August, with organisers unveiling the official routes for the 2026 Totalsports Women’s Race in Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg.
Taking place on 2 August in Durban, 9 August in Cape Town, and 16 August in Johannesburg, the iconic three-city series will once again bring together thousands of women to celebrate Women’s Month through fitness, empowerment and community spirit.
With all three events officially sold out, anticipation is building for what promises to be another memorable edition of one of South Africa’s most popular road running events.
Three cities, three unique race experiences
According to Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and founder of the Totalsports Women’s Race Series, the 2026 routes have been carefully designed to offer participants an unforgettable experience regardless of whether they are elite athletes, recreational runners or first-time walkers.
“We’re excited to once again welcome thousands of women to the streets of Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg this August,” Meyer said.
“Each route has been carefully designed to deliver an enjoyable and memorable experience, whether participants are chasing a personal best, walking with friends and family, or celebrating Women’s Month together. From vibrant on-route entertainment to the incredible atmosphere that has become synonymous with the Totalsports Women’s Race, every kilometre is an opportunity to celebrate strength, unity and the joy of movement.”

Durban offers speed along the coastline
The Durban leg, taking place on Sunday, 2 August, retains the popular fast and flat course that has become synonymous with record-breaking performances.
Participants will enjoy breathtaking views along Durban’s famous beachfront while passing landmarks including Blue Lagoon and the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium, making it one of the country’s fastest and most scenic road running courses.
Following the success of last year’s event, organisers have opted to keep the same route, allowing returning runners another opportunity to improve their personal best times.
Cape Town blends beauty with challenge
The Cape Town race on National Women’s Day (9 August) will once again showcase the Mother City’s spectacular scenery.
The route winds through the heart of the city centre, offering runners panoramic views of Table Mountain, while passing historic sites such as Cape Town City Hall before finishing at the iconic Grand Parade.
Designed to combine fast sections with testing climbs, the course promises an exciting challenge while highlighting some of South Africa’s most recognisable landmarks.

Johannesburg gets a faster new look
Perhaps the biggest changes come in Johannesburg, where organisers have completely redesigned both the 5km and 10km routes.
The new course has been made less demanding than previous editions by reducing some of the tougher hills while easing congestion through suburban sections.
Participants will enjoy picturesque surroundings through Emmarentia and Zoo Lake, creating a smoother, faster and more enjoyable race-day experience.
More than a race
For Nikki Crous, Head of Marketing at Totalsports, the event represents far more than crossing a finish line.
“We’re incredibly excited to welcome thousands of women back to the Totalsports Women’s Race this August,” said Crous.
“Whether you’re lining up for your first 5km, chasing a new 10km personal best or simply enjoying a fun morning out with friends and family, there’s something truly special about being part of this celebration of women, fitness and community.”
Entertainment and purpose
Adding to the festive atmosphere, award-winning South African music star Busiswa will perform live at all three events, ensuring participants and spectators enjoy world-class entertainment before and after the races.
Beyond the excitement on race day, the Totalsports Women’s Race continues to make a meaningful social impact through its longstanding partnership with PinkDrive, a non-profit organisation committed to breast cancer awareness, education and providing free screening services to medically uninsured South Africans.
The partnership reinforces the event’s broader mission of promoting women’s health, wellbeing and empowerment.
Entries snapped up
Demand for this year’s series has once again been overwhelming, with all three races—Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg—officially sold out, highlighting the event’s growing popularity and its status as South Africa’s premier Women’s Month sporting celebration.
As thousands prepare to take to the streets dressed in the event’s signature pink, the 2026 Totalsports Women’s Race promises another inspiring celebration of resilience, unity and the power of women through sport—one kilometre, one city and one unforgettable experience at a time.
