DURBAN, South Africa – The Hollywoodbets Durban July once again proved why it is Africa’s premier lifestyle event, but among the day’s most talked-about attractions was the spectacular Saso’s Marquee Experience, where high fashion, luxury hospitality, music and African creativity combined to deliver an unforgettable celebration of culture and style.
Returning for its third consecutive year, the award-winning marquee elevated the Durban July experience by transforming premium hospitality into an immersive showcase of contemporary African excellence, attracting celebrities, influencers, business leaders and fashion enthusiasts from across the country.

MaXhosa Africa delivers a show-stopping runway debut
The undisputed highlight of the day was the highly anticipated runway presentation by MaXhosa Africa, which staged its first-ever fashion showcase at the Hollywoodbets Durban July.
The celebrated fashion house unveiled its breathtaking Atelier Collection, presenting garments that fused heritage, craftsmanship and modern luxury. Every piece reflected the brand’s distinctive celebration of African identity, earning enthusiastic applause from guests throughout the showcase.
The experience extended beyond the runway.
MaXhosa Africa transformed the marquee into a luxurious African-inspired living space through an elegant collection of bespoke furniture, premium décor, rugs, cushions, umbrellas and statement pieces. Inspired by this year’s “Marvels of Mzansi” theme, the installation seamlessly blended contemporary sophistication with rich cultural storytelling, creating one of the event’s most visually striking destinations.

Robot Boii ignites the runway
Adding an unexpected twist to the fashion spectacle was a surprise appearance by internationally acclaimed dance sensation Robot Boii.
His energetic choreography brought the runway to life, merging fashion, performance and entertainment in a dynamic display that quickly became one of the standout moments of the day and generated excitement throughout the marquee.

South Africa’s biggest stars keep the celebration alive
As the fashion show concluded, the marquee transformed into one of Durban July’s hottest entertainment destinations.
Amapiano superstar Kabza De Small delivered a headline performance that kept guests dancing well into the evening, while an impressive line-up featuring K.O., Sykes, DJ LeSoul, Benny Maverick, DJ Feel and Goldmax ensured the atmosphere remained electric from start to finish.
The carefully curated musical programme reflected the diversity and vibrancy of South Africa’s contemporary music scene, reinforcing Saso’s Marquee Experience as one of the event’s premier entertainment venues.

A powerful celebration of African artistry
Among the day’s most memorable highlights was the exclusive Stella Artois Moment, where acclaimed vocalist Zawadi Yamungu delivered an emotionally charged performance celebrating African heritage, culture and identity.
Her soulful performance provided a moment of reflection amid the festivities, reminding guests that the marquee’s purpose extends beyond entertainment to celebrating African excellence in all its forms.
Fine dining meets African flavour
Luxury was equally evident on the culinary front.
Acclaimed Chef Tuladou, in partnership with Rajah, Knorr and Robertsons, curated an exceptional Harvest Table inspired by bold African flavours and seasonal ingredients.
The premium dining experience complemented the day’s atmosphere perfectly, reinforcing the marquee’s reputation for delivering excellence across every element of hospitality.
Adding to the celebrations, Moët & Chandon hosted a celebratory toast marking three successful years of Saso’s Marquee Experience, while premium partners including Hennessy, Mercedes-Benz, Red Bull, Stella Artois and MaXhosa Africa further elevated the luxury offering.

Setting a new benchmark
Reflecting on another successful edition, founder Lusaso “Saso” Ngcobo said the vision has always been to create an experience that proudly showcases African creativity on one of the continent’s biggest cultural stages.
“Every year we challenge ourselves to create something that feels fresh, memorable and proudly African. Seeing our guests experience the MaXhosa Atelier showcase, celebrate incredible music and enjoy moments curated by our partners was incredibly rewarding. We’re proud of what we’ve built over the past three years, and this year’s edition was our most exciting yet.”

More than a marquee
Following its recognition as Best Marquee in 2025, Saso’s Marquee Experience has firmly established itself as one of the signature attractions of the Hollywoodbets Durban July.
Far more than an exclusive hospitality venue, it has evolved into a platform that celebrates African fashion, music, design, cuisine and entrepreneurship while showcasing the continent’s creative excellence to a sophisticated audience.
As another successful edition draws to a close, Saso’s Marquee Experience continues to redefine what premium hospitality looks like—proving that luxury is at its most powerful when it tells authentic African stories through fashion, culture and unforgettable experiences.
