25 February 2026 — Gaming and hospitality group Sun International has announced the appointment of Charlene Ludick as the new General Manager of Meropa Casino & Entertainment World, reinforcing the group’s strategic focus on operational excellence and sustainable regional growth.

Ludick steps into the leadership role with more than 25 years of executive experience spanning the gaming, hospitality, tourism, and financial services sectors. Her appointment signals a renewed emphasis on performance optimisation, governance discipline, and stakeholder engagement at the Limpopo-based integrated resort.

Strategic Leadership for a Key Regional Asset

In her new position, Ludick will oversee both strategic direction and day-to-day operations at Meropa, with accountability across operational excellence, guest experience, employee engagement, regulatory compliance, and community relations.

The property remains a significant contributor to the regional leisure economy, serving as both an entertainment hub and employer within Limpopo. As regulatory scrutiny and customer expectations continue to evolve, leadership stability and commercial agility have become increasingly critical within the gaming sector.

Ludick’s career includes senior leadership oversight of multi-property portfolios and regional operations, with particular expertise in navigating complex regulatory environments while maintaining commercial performance.

Strong Academic and Executive Foundation

Her academic credentials reflect a robust grounding in business and executive management. Ludick holds:

  • An MBA from Henley Business School
  • A BCom Honours in Business Management (UNISA)
  • A BCom in Management (UNISA)
  • An Executive Development Programme qualification from the University of Nevada (USA)
  • A Certificate in Business Management from SAIM

This blend of academic rigor and sector-specific experience positions her to steer Meropa through its next growth cycle within a competitive and tightly regulated industry landscape.

Governance and Growth Focus

Ludick will report directly to Peter Tshidi, Director of Small and Medium Properties at Sun International, as well as to the Meropa Board.

“Charlene is widely respected for her people-centred, values-driven leadership approach. We wish her every success as she leads Meropa into its next phase of sustainable growth,” Tshidi said.

Her appointment comes at a time when the hospitality and gaming sectors are recalibrating post-pandemic operating models, integrating technology, and strengthening community partnerships.

For Sun International, the move reflects continuity in governance while reinforcing its commitment to operational resilience and long-term value creation at one of Limpopo’s flagship entertainment destinations.
