South Africa’s music industry is witnessing history in real time as DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small officially announced the release of additional tickets for Scorpion Kings Live at FNB Stadium following an unprecedented wave of demand that has already shattered local entertainment records.
The highly anticipated Amapiano spectacle, set to take place on 19 September 2026 at FNB Stadium, has rapidly evolved from a major concert into a full-scale cultural phenomenon — cementing the Scorpion Kings’ status as pioneers of one of Africa’s most influential music movements.
According to organisers, the first day of ticket sales on 5 May saw over half a million users queued on Webtickets attempting to secure access to the event — a staggering milestone never before recorded for any local or international artist event hosted on South African soil. Within just hours of going live, more than 50 000 tickets had already been sold, matching the entire attendance capacity of the groundbreaking 2025 edition of Scorpion Kings Live with Friends held at Loftus Versfeld Stadium. The figure also accounted for approximately 60% of this year’s total stadium capacity — highlighting the explosive growth of Amapiano and the unmatched influence of the Scorpion Kings brand.

The overwhelming response immediately ignited social media, with thousands of fans calling for additional tickets to be released. During a live Instagram session, DJ Maphorisa — later joined by Kabza De Small — addressed fans directly and asked whether the reserved ticket allocation should be opened immediately.
“We see the demand, we see the fans asking, and we want to know from you, do we release more today at 5pm or later?” said the duo during the livestream. “These tickets were always meant for the people, especially those who usually buy later in the month. But after yesterday, it’s clear — we need to open it up so more people can come through and be part of this.”
The newly released allocation was originally reserved for fans purchasing around mid-month and end-of-month pay cycles. However, organisers confirmed that the decision was made to release the tickets earlier in response to overwhelming public demand and the sheer scale of interest surrounding the event.
With an expected attendance of over 80 000 fans, Scorpion Kings Live at FNB Stadium is now on track to become the largest Amapiano concert ever staged — another historic milestone for a genre that continues to dominate charts, dance floors, and global music conversations.
Following the groundbreaking success of the 2025 edition, the 2026 showcase is expected to elevate the experience even further with massive stage production, world-class visuals, surprise performances, and a celebration of the sound that has transformed South African music into a global force.
As anticipation continues to build, DJ Maphorisa has also hinted that the experience could expand even further. Should demand remain at its current level and tickets sell out rapidly following the latest release, organisers may consider adding a second show — a move that would further cement the Scorpion Kings’ place in entertainment history.
Industry insiders have already described the event as one of the most significant live music moments South Africa has ever seen, reflecting not only the dominance of Amapiano but also the global cultural impact of artists like DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small.
Tickets are available via Webtickets as well as Pick n Pay and Boxer stores nationwide. Fans are encouraged to secure their tickets quickly as demand is expected to remain exceptionally high.
One thing is certain — this is no longer just a concert. It is a defining cultural moment for South African music, unfolding on a scale never seen before.
