Jozi Kota Festival Returns with a Star-Studded Line-Up at FNB Stadium

Johannesburg is set to come alive this weekend as the much-anticipated Jozi Kota Festival takes centre stage on Saturday, 4 October 2025, at the iconic FNB Stadium. Powered by Albany Bakeries, the event promises a fusion of South Africa’s vibrant food culture with an electrifying music experience, running from 10 AM until midnight.

The Jozi Kota Festival has carved out a reputation as one of the country’s most exciting cultural gatherings, celebrating not only the township staple “kota” but also the sounds that define South African streets — from amapiano and hip-hop to Afro-soul and house.

This year’s line-up reads like a who’s who of South African music. Festival-goers can expect high-energy performances from DJ Maphorisa, Kabza De Small, Sjava, Big Zulu, DJ Tira, Emtee, Focalistic, Nomfundo Moh, Aymos, Mörda, and Blaq Diamond. Fans of Afro-soul and alternative grooves can also look forward to sets from Lwah Ndlunkulu, Mlindo The Vocalist, Nontokozo Mkhize, and Retharsa, while house lovers will enjoy beats from Ntokzin, Supta, DJ Zan D, DJ Spokza, and K-Zaka.

Adding to the festival’s cultural richness are performances from Jazzworx & Thukuthela as well as fresh talent emerging from the local scene. On stage, the event will be hosted by some of the country’s most charismatic personalities, including Somizi, Napo Modise, Melody Miya, and Kilojays, ensuring an unforgettable experience for attendees.

But beyond the music, the star of the show remains the food. The kota — a hollowed-out quarter loaf of bread filled with a variety of delicious fillings — takes centre stage as vendors showcase creative takes on the beloved dish. From cheesy classics to gourmet twists, the festival offers something for every palate.

In true township spirit, the Jozi Kota Festival is more than just entertainment; it is a celebration of community, creativity, and culture. With thousands expected to attend, the event reflects Johannesburg’s unique ability to bring people together through shared experiences of food and music.
