Entries Open This Week for the 2026 Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon Trail Run

Cape Town – Trail running enthusiasts can officially start counting down as entries for the 2026 Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon Trail Run open on Tuesday, 20 January 2026 at 12:00. Now in its 13th edition, the iconic trail event once again promises an unforgettable running experience through some of the most scenic and challenging terrain on Table Mountain.

Set against the dramatic natural backdrop of Cape Town, the Trail Run offers two exhilarating distances — ±16km and ±24km — giving participants the rare opportunity to experience the rugged beauty of the mountain during one of South Africa’s most celebrated running weekends.

An Exclusive Trail Experience

With entries capped at just 500 runners per distance, the Trail Run remains an intimate and highly sought-after event on the national trail-running calendar.

“We’re excited to kick off 2026 with the opening of entries for the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon Trail Run,” said Chris Goldschmidt, Chairperson of the Two Oceans Marathon NPC.
“The ±16km and ±24km routes offer runners a unique opportunity to explore Table Mountain’s iconic trails during the Two Oceans Marathon weekend. With limited entries, it’s an exclusive experience in one of the world’s most breathtaking natural environments.”

A Highlight of the Two Oceans Weekend

Echoing this enthusiasm, Wade Bromfield, General Manager of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon, said the Trail Run adds another dynamic layer to an already world-renowned event.

“The Trail Run brings a new dimension to the Two Oceans experience, allowing runners to immerse themselves in the energy and atmosphere of this iconic weekend,” said Bromfield.
“The routes showcase some of the most spectacular scenery and authentic trail-running terrain on Table Mountain. It’s challenging yet accessible, and whatever distance you choose, you’re guaranteed an unforgettable adventure.”

Scenic Routes with Iconic Views

Starting from the historic University of Cape Town, runners ascend into the cool, pine-lined trails of Newlands Forest, before tackling the rugged lower slopes of Devil’s Peak. Along the way, participants are rewarded with sweeping views of Table Bay, Robben Island and the Cape Peninsula, making this one of the most scenic trail runs in the country.
