BAJA SARDINIA, ITALY — 19 August 2026 — Global music star and philanthropist Black Coffee is taking his commitment to improving the lives of young people beyond the stage, with the Diamonds Do Good organisation announcing major support for his Foundation’s Gift of Sight by Black Coffee initiative.

The partnership was announced by Black Coffee at an exclusive gathering at Phi Beach in Baja Sardinia, Italy, on 13 August, where Diamonds Do Good confirmed support for the initiative’s mobile eye-care programme.

The programme provides free vision screenings and eyewear to children in underserved and rural communities across South Africa, bringing essential eye-care services directly to communities that may otherwise struggle to access them.

For children, undiagnosed vision problems can have consequences that extend far beyond eyesight. Difficulty seeing clearly can affect classroom participation, learning, confidence and ultimately a young person’s ability to reach their potential.

Bringing eye care closer to children

The support from Diamonds Do Good will help Gift of Sight expand its mobile eye-care programme and reach more children across South Africa.

Kealeboga Pule, Co-Chair of the Diamonds Do Good Beneficiary Committee and Founder and Managing Director of Nungu Diamonds, said the organisation was proud to support an initiative with a direct and potentially lasting impact on young people.

“Gift of Sight by Black Coffee is a powerful example of how investing in the well-being of young people can have a lasting impact,” said Pule.

“By bringing vision care directly to undeserved communities, this programme is helping children see more clearly, learn more confidently and imagine a brighter future.”

She added that Diamonds Do Good was honoured to partner with Black Coffee and his Foundation to advance the initiative.

‘Every child deserves the chance to see what is possible’

For Black Coffee, the initiative is deeply personal.

The internationally acclaimed South African artist has increasingly used his platform to support initiatives aimed at expanding opportunities for young people and communities across Africa.

“Every child deserves the chance to see what is possible for their future,” said Black Coffee.

“Gift of Sight is personal to me because it is about creating access to something that can fundamentally change a child’s experience in the classroom and their outlook on what is possible.”

The musician expressed his appreciation to Diamonds Do Good for recognising the importance of the programme and supporting its expansion.

The partnership will allow the initiative to extend its reach into more communities, potentially identifying vision challenges earlier and connecting children with appropriate care and eyewear.

More than an eye test

For the Black Coffee Foundation, the initiative is about addressing a relatively simple problem that can have significant consequences when left untreated.

Foundation CEO Lungie Maphumulo said the programme goes beyond providing eye tests or glasses.

“For us, this is about more than providing an eye test or a pair of glasses,” said Maphumulo.

“It is about identifying challenges early, connecting children to the care they need and giving them a better opportunity to learn, participate and thrive.”

She said the grant would help extend the reach of Gift of Sight while allowing the Foundation to continue building partnerships around sustainable healthcare interventions for children.

Building opportunity through healthcare

Founded by Black Coffee in 2010, the Black Coffee Foundation focuses on creating sustainable opportunities and empowering communities through programmes centred on education, health, entrepreneurship and independence.

Gift of Sight adds healthcare to that broader mission by tackling a barrier that can affect children’s educational development and quality of life.

The mobile model is particularly important for underserved and rural communities, where access to specialised healthcare services can be limited by distance, cost and infrastructure.

By taking services directly to communities, the programme aims to reduce some of those barriers while encouraging early identification of vision challenges.

Diamonds Do Good expands its social impact

The partnership also aligns with Diamonds Do Good’s broader focus on supporting initiatives that create meaningful and sustainable community impact.

The nonprofit supports communities connected to the natural diamond industry, funding and partnering on programmes focused on education, entrepreneurship, women’s empowerment, workforce development and health.

The organisation’s founding was encouraged by Nelson Mandela, and since 2007 it has supported initiatives designed to strengthen communities and highlight the social and economic benefits associated with natural diamonds.

Its support for Gift of Sight represents another investment in young people — this time through access to essential healthcare that can influence educational outcomes and future opportunities.

A clearer vision for the future

The collaboration between Diamonds Do Good and the Black Coffee Foundation demonstrates how philanthropy, corporate support and community-based programmes can combine to address practical challenges affecting children.

A pair of glasses may appear to be a simple intervention, but for a child struggling to see the classroom board, read a textbook or participate fully in school, it can represent a significant change.

Through Gift of Sight, Black Coffee and his Foundation are seeking to ensure that eyesight does not become an unnecessary barrier to education and ambition.

With the backing of Diamonds Do Good, the programme now has an opportunity to reach more children and communities across South Africa.

The goal is straightforward: help children see clearly today so they can see more possibilities for tomorrow.
