Excitement is building ahead of the 2026 Absa RUN YOUR CITY TSHWANE 10K as Chery South Africa once again raises the stakes by offering one lucky participant the chance to drive away in a brand-new Chery vehicle valued at R279 900.
Set to take place on Sunday, 23 August 2026, in the heart of Pretoria, the popular road running spectacle promises not only elite competition and vibrant city energy, but also life-changing rewards for everyday runners.
As the official Vehicle Partner of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series since 2022, Chery South Africa has become a familiar and celebrated presence at the country’s premier 10km road races. Over the past four years, eighteen fortunate participants across the series have won brand-new Chery vehicles, transforming ordinary race days into unforgettable milestones.
Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and founder of the series, says the partnership continues to elevate the overall participant experience.

“The Absa RUN YOUR CITY TSHWANE 10K is about more than crossing a finish line — it’s about celebrating effort, community, and memorable experiences,” says Meyer.
“Tshwane offers runners a unique opportunity to experience the energy of the capital city on foot, and thanks to Chery South Africa, one participant will leave with a truly extraordinary reward. It’s the kind of surprise that captures the spirit of what makes this series so special.”
The Tshwane leg of the series has become one of the most anticipated races on the South African road running calendar, attracting elite athletes, social runners, fitness enthusiasts and families alike. Known for its fast course, electric atmosphere and passionate supporters, the event continues to grow as a celebration of sport, wellness and urban culture.
Meyer believes strategic partnerships play a critical role in shaping the race-day experience.

“Chery South Africa has played an important role in enhancing the participant experience over the years, helping us create moments that runners genuinely look forward to,” he adds. “Partnerships like these allow us to add something unexpected and exciting to race day while reinforcing the positive impact that sport and active lifestyles can have in bringing communities together.”
For Chery South Africa, the partnership aligns closely with the brand’s growing footprint in South Africa and its commitment to community engagement.
Tony Liu, CEO of Chery South Africa, says the capital city reflects the ambition and energy that define the brand.
“Tshwane is a city filled with ambition, diversity, and momentum, which makes it a natural fit for the Chery brand,” says Liu.

“We are delighted to once again reward one lucky participant while supporting an event that encourages healthier lifestyles and meaningful community engagement. Every runner arrives with their own goal, and we are proud to contribute to an experience that celebrates those achievements in a memorable way.”
To qualify for the vehicle giveaway, participants must officially enter the race, collect their race numbers during the designated collection period, and complete the full 10km route on race day.
The 2026 Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series has already delivered memorable moments this year. The opening event in Gqeberha saw South African star Adriaan Wildschutt claim victory in the elite men’s race in a time of 27:47, while Kenya’s Brenda Jepchirchir dominated the women’s race in 30:15. The Cape Town leg was unfortunately cancelled due to severe weather forecasts, while Durban, Tshwane and Johannesburg are still set to deliver thrilling action later this year.
The Tshwane edition will start and finish on Stanza Bopape Street in Arcadia, Pretoria, with runners expected to flood the streets of the capital from 08:00 on race morning.
With elite competition, city-wide festivities and the possibility of winning a brand-new vehicle, the 2026 Absa RUN YOUR CITY TSHWANE 10K is shaping up to be one of the standout sporting events on South Africa’s road running calendar.
