JOHANNESBURG — Global betting and gaming brand Betway has unveiled its latest integrated marketing campaign, Betway Clubhouse, bringing together an extraordinary line-up of sporting and entertainment stars while creating an immersive new destination for South African sports fans.
Launched on 20 August 2026, the campaign features 27 sporting and entertainment personalities, including football legend Thierry Henry, Manchester City star Erling Haaland, Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz, UFC champion Dricus du Plessis and six-time MLB All-Star Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
The campaign launch coincides with the start of the new English Premier League season and is designed to showcase the global scale of Betway’s sporting partnerships, while placing fans at the centre of the brand experience.
In South Africa, the campaign has moved beyond the screen with the opening of the Betway Clubhouse, a limited-time immersive sports viewing destination at Benchwarmers in Rosebank, Johannesburg, running from 19 August to 27 September 2026.
Bringing the global sports world together
Produced in partnership with London-based agency M+C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment, the Betway Clubhouse campaign imagines an ultimate game-day destination where some of the biggest names in global sport come together under one roof.
The campaign features talent connected to Betway’s extensive international sporting portfolio, including Manchester United, Arsenal FC and Manchester City, as well as personalities from Formula 1, rugby, cricket, horse racing, baseball and mixed martial arts.
At the centre of the campaign is Thierry Henry, who takes on the role of the Clubhouse Manager and welcomes viewers into the fictional sporting world.
The cast also includes Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo and Matheus Cunha; Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, Matheus Nunes and Antoine Semenyo; Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya, Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyökeres; and Atlassian Williams F1 drivers Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon.
South African sporting icons also feature prominently, including Dricus du Plessis, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Eben Etzebeth, Ox Nché, Damian Willemse, Victor Matfield, Jean de Villiers, Happy Jele, Graeme Smith and Chris Morris.
International stars including Guti and Andrés Guardado, alongside champion jockey Paul Townend, also form part of the campaign’s diverse sporting line-up.
From the screen to Rosebank
The campaign’s central concept has been translated into a physical experience in Johannesburg.
The Betway Clubhouse at Benchwarmers is designed to give South African fans a place to watch live sporting action across Betway’s sponsorship portfolio while engaging with interactive activations and entertainment.
The experience runs for six weeks, giving fans an opportunity to experience the campaign’s “Feel the Action” proposition in a physical environment.
Rather than simply presenting sport on screens, the Clubhouse concept is intended to create a social destination where fans can gather, interact and experience multiple sporting codes in one venue.
The Johannesburg activation also gives the global campaign a distinctly South African dimension, connecting international sporting partnerships with a local fan base.
A global platform for the Betway brand
According to Neal Menashe, Chief Executive Officer of Super Group, Betway’s parent company, the campaign reflects the excitement and passion experienced by sports fans while highlighting the international reach of the Betway brand.
The campaign will operate as a broader brand platform across Betway’s markets, extending across television, digital platforms, outdoor advertising and physical experiences connected to the company’s sporting partnerships.
Ross Watson, Managing Director of M+C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment, said the campaign was developed around the ambition of matching the scale of Betway’s global sporting partnerships while putting fans at the heart of the experience.
The result is a campaign designed to bring together sporting personalities from different disciplines within a single brand universe.
A star-studded sporting clubhouse
The campaign’s creative concept allows the sporting stars to interact in unexpected ways.
Alex Albon arrives at the Clubhouse in his Formula 1 car, while Carlos Sainz takes on the Formula 1 simulator. Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes showcases his accuracy on a dart board, while Vladimir Guerrero Jr. brings baseball into the mix.
Dricus du Plessis takes on the role of Clubhouse bouncer, while Kelly Brook makes an appearance at the casino slot machine.
Elsewhere, Springbok stars Eben Etzebeth, Ox Nché and Damian Willemse watch the action while enjoying biltong, while rugby legends Victor Matfield and Jean de Villiers face football star Happy Jele in a game of snooker.
South African cricket legends Graeme Smith and Chris Morris also feature, adding another local sporting dimension to the campaign.
The deliberately playful interactions are designed to underline the idea that the Clubhouse is a place where different sporting worlds collide.
Produced across multiple locations
The campaign was filmed across more than 10 shoots in locations including London, Manchester, Nice and Johannesburg, using bespoke sets and without the use of AI.
The production was led by Common People, with director Virgil Ferragut at the helm.
The resulting long-form advertisement forms the centrepiece of a broader 360-degree campaign that will be rolled out internationally across multiple media and consumer touchpoints.
Johannesburg at the centre of the South African activation
For South African sports fans, however, the most immediate expression of the campaign is the Clubhouse in Rosebank.
Running until 27 September, the temporary destination is expected to attract fans throughout the early weeks of the Premier League season, while also providing a platform for the wider range of sports and competitions within Betway’s sponsorship portfolio.
The activation arrives at a time when Johannesburg’s sports and entertainment calendar is increasingly embracing experiential fan engagement, with brands looking beyond traditional advertising to create environments where audiences can participate in the experience.
For Betway, the Clubhouse represents an opportunity to translate its global sporting footprint into a tangible experience for local consumers.
More than a campaign
With its combination of global sporting stars, major team partnerships and a physical fan experience in Johannesburg, Betway Clubhouse represents a significant expansion of the brand’s marketing platform.
From Thierry Henry’s role as Clubhouse Manager to the appearances of South Africa’s sporting icons, the campaign deliberately brings together different generations, sporting codes and markets.
For Johannesburg fans, that global concept has now taken physical form in Rosebank.
As the new Premier League season gets underway, the Betway Clubhouse is set to provide a temporary home for sports fans looking to “Feel the Action” — bringing the world’s sporting spectacle closer to home.
