The Next Gen Squad Cosplay Competition will take place on Saturday, 26 September on the Comic Con Africa main stage, giving fans the opportunity to transform into one of four Telkom VS Gaming personalities — S-Tech, Vibey Val, Mobile Mo or Lucky Lou.
The competition forms part of Telkom VS Gaming’s broader Comic Con Africa experience, creating another opportunity for fans to move beyond simply watching the action and become part of the entertainment themselves.
Participants will be challenged to interpret their chosen character through costume, creativity and stage performance, with entries judged across several categories.
Judges will consider the overall look and presentation, creativity, character interpretation, stage presence and overall impact when selecting the winners.
There is a total of R30,000 in cash prizes up for grabs, with the top three cosplayers set to receive:
- First place: R12,500
- Second place: R10,000
- Third place: R7,500
Registration is free and open to Comic Con Africa attendees aged 13 and older, although participants must hold a valid Comic Con Africa ticket for the day of the competition.
With entries limited, aspiring cosplayers are encouraged to register early. Registration closes at 18:00 on Friday, 25 September 2026, unless otherwise communicated by Telkom.
The competition gives fans the chance to put their own creative spin on the Next Gen Squad while showcasing the growing intersection between gaming, cosplay, digital entertainment and youth culture.
For Comic Con Africa audiences, it also adds another layer of participation to an event that has increasingly become a platform where gaming communities, creators, artists and pop-culture enthusiasts can connect.
