CAPE TOWN – The Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon powered by BYD has taken another significant step towards strengthening its global footprint, announcing a three-year strategic partnership with Marathon Tours & Travel (MTT) as the event’s exclusive International Travel Partner for the 2027, 2028 and 2029 editions.
The agreement is expected to streamline race participation for international athletes while reinforcing the iconic race’s status as “The World’s Most Beautiful Marathon.”
Under the partnership, Marathon Tours & Travel will become the exclusive entry channel for all international and Rest of Africa runners, managing race registrations alongside comprehensive travel packages that include accommodation, logistics and race-week support.

Strengthening the Marathon’s Global Appeal
Two Oceans Marathon NPC Chairperson Chris Goldschmidt said the partnership aligns with the organisation’s long-term vision of expanding the event’s international presence while improving the overall athlete experience.
“We are excited to welcome Marathon Tours & Travel as the exclusive Travel Partner of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon powered by BYD,” said Goldschmidt.
“Their outstanding reputation for delivering world-class travel experiences to runners from around the globe makes them the ideal partner to support our vision of growing the event’s international reach while ensuring a seamless journey from registration to race day.”
He added that the partnership would simplify participation for overseas athletes while allowing them to fully experience both Cape Town and the internationally acclaimed marathon.
Enhancing the Runner Experience
Event Director Wade Bromfield believes the collaboration will make travelling to South Africa significantly easier for overseas participants.
“Partnering with MTT allows us to provide international and runners from the rest of Africa with a trusted, end-to-end travel solution that makes planning their journey to Cape Town simple and seamless,” Bromfield said.
“By bringing travel, accommodation and race entry together through a trusted partner, we can offer runners greater convenience, confidence and peace of mind, allowing them to focus on the excitement of being part of the World’s Most Beautiful Marathon.”
The move comes as South African sporting events continue to attract growing international participation, boosting sports tourism and contributing to Cape Town’s economy.

Marathon Tours & Travel Welcomes the Opportunity
For Marathon Tours & Travel, the agreement represents another prestigious addition to its international portfolio.
Head of Product and Operations Marie Howarth described the partnership as both an honour and an exciting milestone.

Entries Open in August
Entries for several events forming part of the 2027 Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon Festival open on 3 August 2026, while Blue Number Club members receive early access to the flagship Half Marathon and Ultra Marathon from 15 to 22 July 2026.
The programme includes:
- 31 March 2027: 8km Night Run (5,000 runners)
- 1 April 2027: 4.5km International Friendship Run (1,500 participants)
- 2 April 2027: Trail Run featuring 12km, 16km and 24km distances
- 3 April 2027: Totalsports Two Oceans Half Marathon (21.1km)
- 4 April 2027: Totalsports Two Oceans Ultra Marathon (56km)
Both flagship races will accommodate 21,000 participants, with international athletes exempt from the public ballot system and instead required to secure entries exclusively through Marathon Tours & Travel.
A Major Boost for Sports Tourism
The partnership reflects the growing importance of sports tourism within South Africa’s events industry. By simplifying travel arrangements for international competitors, organisers expect increased participation from athletes across Europe, North America, Asia and the rest of Africa.
