Global sportswear giant PUMA has officially stepped onto the court of African basketball culture, unveiling its debut fanwear collection for the Basketball Africa League (BAL) ahead of the 2026 season tip-off.

The launch marks a significant expansion of PUMA’s partnership with the league, blending performance, lifestyle, and cultural expression into a collection designed for fans across the continent and beyond.

Style Meets African Basketball Identity

Unveiled in Cape Town, the collection captures the vibrancy and diversity that define African basketball culture. From bold jerseys to everyday streetwear staples, the range reflects a growing movement where sport and fashion intersect.

The lineup includes:

  • Jerseys (R799)
  • T-shirts (R599)
  • Hoodies (R1299)
  • Caps (R399)
  • Gym sacks (R299)

The collection became available from 25 March via PUMA’s official platforms, selected retail stores, BAL arenas, and the NBA Store—timed perfectly ahead of the season opener at the SunBet Arena.

Beyond Fanwear: A Full-Court Partnership

PUMA’s role extends far beyond merchandise. As the official outfitter of the BAL, the brand is responsible for supplying all team and referee apparel throughout the season.

This includes:

  • Official game uniforms
  • Warm-up and practice gear
  • Accessories and branded apparel
  • Outfits for social impact and player development programmes

This comprehensive approach positions PUMA at the centre of the league’s visual identity, reinforcing its commitment to growing basketball culture across Africa.

Timing the Drop with Tip-Off

The fanwear release coincides with the start of the BAL’s Kalahari Conference group phase, which tips off on Friday, 27 March in Pretoria. With fans returning to arenas and engagement around the league rising, the collection offers supporters a new way to connect with their teams and the broader basketball movement.

Tickets for the opening fixtures are currently available via Ticketmaster, as anticipation builds for another high-energy season.

A Cultural Play Beyond the Court

The collaboration highlights a broader trend in global sport—where apparel is no longer just functional, but a vehicle for identity, storytelling, and cultural pride.

By aligning with the BAL, PUMA taps into one of the fastest-growing basketball ecosystems in the world, while giving fans a tangible way to express their connection to the game.

As the 2026 season tips off, the message is clear: African basketball is not just rising—it’s defining its own style.
