Take A Seat Awards return to honour South Africa’s women and youth leaders

Mark your calendars for 28 November 2025, when the Take A Seat Awards (TASA) will once again shine a light on exceptional women and youth leaders who are redefining South Africa’s leadership landscape. Set to unfold in Johannesburg, this prestigious ceremony will gather 60 leaders, executives, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to celebrate those who exemplify purpose-driven leadership across seven distinct categories.

In its second year, the Take A Seat Awards has solidified its reputation as a vital platform for leadership discourse, fostering connections between young professionals and seasoned executives. Following a successful launch in 2024, the response to this year’s event has surged, reflecting the increasing demand for a credible space where innovative leadership can thrive against the backdrop of personal and organisational transformation.

This year’s theme, “Occupy the Seat, Lead the Change,” encapsulates the pressing need for proactive leadership in South Africa. It calls on both emerging and established leaders to take responsibility for their impact and drive the transformation necessary for a brighter future, with integrity and accountability at its core.

Recognising Diverse Leadership Contributions

The awards ceremony will feature seven categories, including Leadership in Action, Innovation and Creativity, Mentorship and Support, Community Impact, Resilience and Perseverance, the SATT Legacy Award, and the SATT Ambassador. Each category acknowledges notable contributions to leadership in diverse sectors, spanning business, community initiatives, and public service.

Vuyelwa Diniso, CEO of SATT, underscores the significance of these awards in a country yearning for credible leadership. “We live in a country where people are tired of empty promises and tired of watching potential go to waste. Yet we continue to see women and young leaders who stay committed to the work,” Diniso stated. “These are the people who teach us what leadership looks like in real life.”

She further emphasised the role of the awards not only in honouring these leaders but in reminding all of us that authentic leadership requires courage and a steadfast commitment to purpose over mere recognition. “We’re recognising people who’ve chosen responsibility over comfort and purpose over recognition,” she added.

Fostering a Collaborative Future

The ceremony encourages intergenerational collaboration, showcasing young professionals under 40 alongside senior executives and innovators. This dynamic reflects SATT’s commitment to nurturing a new wave of leaders through platforms that inspire engagement and meaningful dialogue.

Seat at the Table (SATT) stands as a youth-focused leadership initiative that empowers young South Africans to connect, engage in impactful conversations, and learn from experienced leaders and changemakers. In an era where ethical leadership is imperative, the Take A Seat Awards serve as a beacon of hope, recognising those dedicated to restoring possibility in their communities and industries across the nation.
