A major new addition to South Africa’s live music calendar is set to make its debut this winter, with Zakes Bantwini confirmed as the headline act for the inaugural Scatterlings Music Festival 2026.
Taking place on 1 August at Huddle Park, the festival promises a high-impact, one-night-only celebration of South African music, culture, and identity—anchored by one of the country’s most globally recognised artists.
A Headliner With Global Impact
Fresh off international acclaim, including his Grammy-winning contribution to Bayethe, Bantwini has solidified his reputation as a genre-defying force, seamlessly blending electronic, afro-pop, and dance music into a signature sound that resonates across borders.
“Johannesburg has always held a special place in my journey,” Bantwini said. “This city pushes you, inspires you, and reminds you why you started. To headline Scatterlings here, in front of a home crowd, is something I don’t take lightly.”
His performance is expected to anchor what organisers are positioning as one of the most culturally significant live music events of 2026.
An All-Star Line-Up
Backing the headline act is a carefully curated roster of South African heavyweights and rising voices. The line-up includes Sjava, Sun-El Musician, Msaki, Jesse Clegg, MUZI, Simmy, TRESOR, and Zolani Mahola, among others.
The diversity of the line-up reflects the festival’s broader vision: to bring together different sounds, styles, and generations into a single, cohesive experience.
Music as Cultural Connection
Curated by Jesse Clegg and Msaki, Scatterlings Music Festival is designed as more than just a concert—it is a platform for storytelling, connection, and cultural expression.
“On 1 August, thousands will gather for a celebration where audiences don’t just watch, but become part of the story,” Clegg said. “It’s about bringing South Africans together again through music that has always connected us.”
The festival’s name itself hints at this ethos—drawing from themes of movement, identity, and shared heritage within South Africa’s evolving cultural landscape.
A One-Night-Only Experience
With tickets already on sale via Webtickets and demand expected to surge, organisers are positioning the event as a must-attend moment for music lovers.
Unlike multi-day festivals, Scatterlings is intentionally designed as a concentrated, high-energy experience—delivering a full spectrum of performances in a single night.
A Defining Moment for 2026
As anticipation builds, the inaugural Scatterlings Music Festival is shaping up to be more than just another event—it’s a statement about where South African music is now, and where it’s headed.
On 1 August, under the Johannesburg skyline, the country’s sound, soul, and stories will converge—led by a global star, powered by local excellence, and driven by a shared rhythm that continues to unite.
