CAPE TOWN — The Totalsports TWO OCEANS MARATHON powered by BYD is set to elevate its race-week experience after securing a three-year partnership with the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), with plans to more than double the space allocated to its Race Pack Collection and Expo from 2027.

The partnership brings together one of South Africa’s most iconic road-running events, popularly known as the World’s Most Beautiful Marathon, and one of Cape Town’s premier convention venues, creating a larger platform to welcome thousands of runners, exhibitors and supporters ahead of race day.

The 2027 Race Pack Collection and Expo will take place from Thursday, 1 April, to Saturday, 3 April, at CTICC 1, using Halls 1–4.

The expanded footprint is expected to improve the flow of race pack collection, provide more room for runners to explore exhibitor offerings and create greater opportunities for brands and partners to engage with participants.

Bigger Expo, better runner experience

The increased floor space will more than double the size of the 2026 Expo, with a particular focus on expanding the road-running offering and improving the overall race-week experience.

For runners, the changes are intended to make collecting race packs more efficient while creating a more engaging environment in which to prepare for the challenge ahead.

Chris Goldschmidt, chairperson of the TWO OCEANS MARATHON NPC, said the partnership represented an important step in the event’s ongoing development.

“The Totalsports TWO OCEANS MARATHON powered by BYD has always been about delivering an exceptional experience for our runners, both on and off the road. The CTICC provides us with an outstanding environment in which to welcome our runners to Cape Town and build the excitement ahead of race day.”

Goldschmidt said the three-year agreement would give organisers the opportunity to develop the Expo over the longer term.

“Doubling the floor space from 2027 is particularly exciting, as it will allow us to create a bigger, better and more runner-focused experience while making race pack collection as seamless and enjoyable as possible,” he said.

More opportunities for exhibitors and partners

The expanded venue is also expected to create additional opportunities for exhibitors and commercial partners seeking to connect with the marathon’s diverse running community.

Wade Bromfield, event director of the Totalsports TWO OCEANS MARATHON powered by BYD, said the CTICC’s infrastructure would support the event’s long-term ambitions.

“The CTICC is a world-class venue that aligns perfectly with our long-term vision for the Totalsports TWO OCEANS MARATHON powered by BYD. Following a successful first year together, we’re pleased to extend the partnership for a further three years.”

Bromfield said the additional space would enable organisers to broaden the Expo’s offering while raising the standard of the overall event experience.

“From 2027, the increased space and infrastructure will allow us to further elevate the Race Pack Collection and Expo experience, expanding the offering to runners and creating greater opportunities for our partners and exhibitors,” he said.

“ This partnership gives us a platform to grow, innovate and continue raising the standard of the overall TTOM experience.”

Exhibitor applications open on Monday, 12 October 2026. Interested businesses can apply by emailing liezle@showoff.co.za.

Five days of running in the Mother City

The CTICC partnership forms part of a wider programme of running events scheduled from 31 March to 4 April 2027, bringing athletes of different abilities together for a week of road and trail running in Cape Town.

The programme begins on Wednesday, 31 March, with the 8km Totalsports TWO OCEANS NIGHT RUN, followed by the 4.5km International Friendship Run on Thursday, 1 April.

The Trail Run takes place on Friday, 2 April, offering 24km, 18km and 12km distances. The event has a capacity of 1,500 participants, with the University of Cape Town Rugby Fields serving as the start and finish venue.

Saturday, 3 April, will see the 21.1km Totalsports TWO OCEANS HALF MARATHON, before the programme reaches its highlight on Sunday, 4 April, with the gruelling 56km Totalsports TWO OCEANS ULTRA MARATHON. Both races finish at the UCT Rugby Fields.

Entries are open for the Night Run, International Friendship Run and Trail Run, according to the event information released by organisers.

Raising the standard of a running landmark

The Two Oceans Marathon has established itself as a major fixture on South Africa’s sporting calendar, attracting runners drawn to its challenging routes, distinctive Cape Town setting and the shared atmosphere of race week.

The extended CTICC partnership signals an investment not only in race pack collection, but also in the wider experience surrounding the event — from the first interaction with the Expo to the anticipation that builds before runners take to the start line.

With a larger venue, expanded exhibitor opportunities and a five-day programme spanning road and trail running, organisers are positioning the 2027 edition to deliver a more streamlined and engaging experience for participants.

As the countdown to April 2027 begins, the message is clear: the Two Oceans experience is expanding beyond the course, giving runners more space to prepare, connect and celebrate the journey.
