JOHANNESBURG – South Africa’s biggest music phenomenon is preparing for an even bigger moment as the final 5,000 tickets for the highly anticipated Scorpion Kings Live at FNB Stadium are set to be released on 25 June 2026, bringing fans one step closer to witnessing what is expected to become one of the most significant live music events in the country’s history.
The announcement follows an unprecedented wave of demand that has firmly established the event as a cultural milestone, not only for Amapiano but for South African music as a whole. Since tickets first went on sale, more than 500,000 fans reportedly joined online queues in a race to secure their place at the historic concert, highlighting the extraordinary popularity of the genre and its leading pioneers, DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small.
With the release of the final ticket allocation, alongside a limited number of premium hospitality packages, organisers anticipate another rush from eager fans hoping to be part of the landmark event scheduled for 19 September 2026 at the iconic FNB Stadium.
The concert is poised to become the second-largest sold-out concert in the history of FNB Stadium, placing it among the most celebrated live entertainment spectacles ever staged on African soil. More importantly, it will see DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small become the first South African artists and the first Amapiano performers to sell out a stadium of this magnitude, further cementing their legacy as architects of one of the world’s fastest-growing music genres.

What started in the townships of Gauteng as a uniquely South African sound has evolved into a global cultural movement. Today, Amapiano dominates dance floors, music festivals, streaming platforms and radio stations across Africa, Europe, North America and beyond, transforming local talent into international stars.
For the Scorpion Kings, the concert represents far more than personal success.
“This is bigger than us. It’s bigger than one show. It’s about showing the world what South African music can do,” said DJ Maphorisa.
“To see so many fans supporting Amapiano at this level is something we never take for granted.”
Kabza De Small echoed those sentiments, describing the moment as a celebration of the genre’s remarkable journey.
“We’ve always believed in the music and in the people who support it. To be part of a moment like this, where piano is making history, is a blessing. We’re grateful to every fan who continues to grow with us.”
The significance of the event extends beyond music. Industry observers have described the concert as a defining moment for South Africa’s creative economy, showcasing the commercial power of local talent and demonstrating the global appeal of homegrown cultural exports.
For many fans, the concert represents a celebration of a genre that has become synonymous with South African identity, innovation and youth culture. The sold-out success of Scorpion Kings Live also underscores the growing influence of African music on the international stage, with Amapiano increasingly becoming one of the continent’s most recognised cultural exports.

As anticipation builds, organisers are urging fans to act quickly when ticket sales reopen on 25 June, warning that demand is expected to remain exceptionally high.
With thousands already counting down to the event, all signs point to 19 September becoming a historic night not only for DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small, but for South African music itself.
When the lights come on at FNB Stadium and tens of thousands of voices unite in celebration of Amapiano, the Scorpion Kings will not simply be performing a concert—they will be making history.
