04 December 2025 — South Africa’s most iconic mass participation road running series is back, bigger and bolder than ever. The 2026 Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series is officially underway, with entries for the first two races — the Absa RUN YOUR CITY GQEBERHA 10K and Absa RUN YOUR CITY CAPE TOWN 10K — opening Thursday, 11 December 2025.

Spanning five major South African cities in 2026, the globally recognised series continues to unite elite athletes, club runners, and everyday fitness enthusiasts on streets known for fast times, electric energy, and unforgettable urban running experiences.

A Return to Two Iconic Coastal Cities

We are excited to kick off the 2026 Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series by opening entries for the first two of five iconic races — the Absa RUN YOUR CITY GQEBERHA 10K and Absa RUN YOUR CITY CAPE TOWN 10K,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and Founder of the series.

Both cities have cemented their reputations as premier hosts:

  • Gqeberha (introduced in 2023) is known for picturesque coastal routes, spirited spectators, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
  • Cape Town (since 2015) offers unmatched scenery, vibrant streets, and a thriving running culture that draws competitors from around the world.

“As we celebrate the 4th running of the Gqeberha 10K and the 11th running of the Cape Town 10K, we’re elevating the experience even further — with more excitement, exceptional performances, and that unmistakable city vibe runners love,” Meyer adds.

A Movement, Not Just a Race

Jabulile Nsibanyoni, Head of Sponsorships, Brand and Marketing at Absa, says the opening of entries signals the start of something much bigger:

Gqeberha and Cape Town, the wait is over! Entries officially open on 11 December. This is your moment to lace up early, secure your spot, and own your streets with purpose. The Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series is more than just a race; it’s a movement inspiring real, positive change. We can’t wait to welcome you at the start line and celebrate your journey to the finish.”
