Cape Town Gears Up for a World-Class Absa RUN YOUR CITY 10K This Mother’s Day

Cape Town is set to welcome runners from across South Africa and beyond for the 11th annual Absa RUN YOUR CITY Cape Town 10K, taking place on Sunday, 10 May 2026. Celebrating its milestone anniversary on Mother’s Day, this event has cemented its reputation as one of the country’s premier running experiences, offering a perfect blend of elite competition, social running, and vibrant on-route entertainment.

Set against the stunning backdrop of Table Mountain and Cape Town’s iconic cityscape, the race promises an unforgettable experience for participants of all levels. From the starting line on Marine Drive, Milnerton, to the finish in the heart of the CBD, runners will enjoy a scenic coastal and urban route energized by live performances, cheering spectators, and interactive activations.

“We’re thrilled to return to the Mother City for this edition of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Cape Town 10K,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports. “This race combines world-class competition with an unforgettable experience for everyone on the route. Whether you’re an elite athlete or a social runner, Cape Town offers a backdrop that elevates every kilometre.”

The event is supported by key series partners including Absa, PUMA, Powerade, AVIS, and Heineken, all contributing to high-energy activations along the route. From flag bearers and local performers to interactive PUMA zones, participants will feel the city’s vibrant spirit at every turn.

Jabulile Nsibanyoni, Head of Sponsorships at Absa, highlighted the community aspect of the race, stating: “The entertainment along the route is designed to celebrate Cape Town’s rich heritage and vibrant spirit, creating a fun and engaging experience for both runners and spectators.”

Rae Trew-Browne, PUMA Run Train Marketing Manager, added: “We love inspiring runners of all levels to push their limits. Our PUMA Zone on race day will challenge participants to explore what ‘TOO FAST’ means to them, making the experience both fun and energizing.”

The Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series continues throughout 2026, with upcoming events in Durban (12 July), Tshwane (23 August), and Joburg (24 September). The series kicked off in spectacular fashion in Gqeberha on 1 March, where Adriaan Wildschutt (RSA) and Brenda Jepchirchir (KEN) claimed the elite titles in impressive times of 27:47 and 30:15 respectively.
