One of South Africa’s most iconic endurance events has entered an exciting new chapter after the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon announced a landmark partnership with global electric vehicle manufacturer BYD as its Official Presenting Sponsor.
Beginning in 2026, the prestigious race will officially be known as the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon powered by BYD, marking the first time the celebrated event has secured a presenting sponsor in its history.
The collaboration signals a powerful alignment between the marathon’s commitment to excellence and the electric vehicle company’s focus on innovation, sustainability and forward-thinking mobility solutions.

Speaking about the announcement, Chris Goldschmidt, Chairperson of the Two Oceans Marathon NPC, described the partnership as a proud and significant milestone for the event.
“This is a proud and exciting moment for us as we welcome BYD as Presenting Sponsor of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon from 2026,” Goldschmidt said.
He added that the collaboration reflects shared values between the marathon and the automotive brand.

Often referred to as “The World’s Most Beautiful Marathon,” the event has long been celebrated for its breathtaking coastal route and vibrant atmosphere that attracts thousands of runners from around the globe.

For race organisers, securing BYD as presenting sponsor is a major step toward strengthening the marathon’s global standing.
Wade Bromfield, General Manager of the marathon, said the partnership forms part of a broader ambition to elevate the event’s international profile.

The 2026 Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon powered by BYD will once again bring thousands of runners and supporters to Cape Town for a four-day celebration of endurance running.

- Thursday, 9 April 2026: Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon International Friendship Run
- Friday, 10 April 2026: Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon Trail Run
- Saturday, 11 April 2026: Totalsports Two Oceans Ultra Marathon
- Sunday, 12 April 2026: Totalsports Two Oceans Half Marathon
