GAUTENG — The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) in Gauteng is taking essential social security services directly into communities as part of its ongoing efforts to improve accessibility and strengthen engagement with residents.

SASSA will host Service Delivery Activations on Tuesday, 29 September 2026, in Tembisa and Sebokeng, providing community members with an opportunity to access information and assistance on a range of grant-related matters without having to travel far from their communities.

The activations will take place at Rabasotho Community Hall in Tembisa and Trinity Assemblies of God Church in Boitumelo, Sebokeng.

The initiative forms part of SASSA’s broader commitment to bringing government services closer to communities, particularly residents who may face challenges accessing information and support through conventional service channels.

Direct Access to Grant Services

Residents attending the activations will have an opportunity to engage directly with SASSA officials and service delivery stakeholders.

Services and support available will include information on social grants, assistance with grant-related enquiries, updating personal details and submitting applications where applicable.

The outreach will also provide residents with an opportunity to obtain accurate information about available SASSA programmes and receive guidance on matters affecting their grant applications or beneficiary status.

By providing these services within communities, SASSA aims to reduce barriers to access while ensuring that residents have a clearer understanding of the social security support available to qualifying South Africans.

Supporting Vulnerable Communities

SASSA is encouraging a broad range of community members to make use of the activations, including current beneficiaries, prospective beneficiaries, caregivers, older persons and persons with disabilities.

The initiative is particularly significant for vulnerable residents who may require assistance navigating grant-related processes or obtaining reliable information about their eligibility and available services.

Rather than relying solely on residents to visit government offices, community-based activations create an additional avenue through which SASSA officials can engage directly with beneficiaries and prospective beneficiaries.

Strengthening Community Engagement

The Tembisa and Sebokeng activations form part of SASSA Gauteng’s continuing focus on accessible service delivery and public awareness.

The agency says the activations are intended to improve access to services, increase awareness of SASSA programmes and provide residents with accurate information and support on grant-related matters.

Direct engagement also gives community members an opportunity to raise concerns, seek clarification and receive guidance from officials in a setting closer to where they live.

This approach places community engagement at the centre of social security service delivery, particularly for residents who may need additional assistance when accessing government programmes.

Services Closer to the People

SASSA’s outreach programme reflects the importance of bringing public services closer to the communities they are intended to serve.

For residents of Tembisa, Sebokeng and surrounding areas, the 29 September activations will provide an opportunity to obtain information, seek assistance and engage with officials on social grant-related issues.

As SASSA continues its community-based service delivery efforts, residents are encouraged to attend the activations and make use of the support and information available.
