JOHANNESBURG – Before the lights, the music and the packed stadium take centre stage, the team behind Scorpion Kings Live chose to celebrate Nelson Mandela Day where it matters most—within the heart of the community.
In a moving demonstration of compassion and social responsibility, the Scorpion Kings Live team spent 16 July at Jehovah Jirah Orphanage in Soshanguve, dedicating far more than the symbolic 67 minutes to uplifting the lives of vulnerable children through acts of service, encouragement and genuine human connection.
The initiative brought together some of Amapiano’s rising stars and established performers, including Thatohatsi, Nicole Elocin, Dadaman, Dynamic Duo, Myztro, LeeArt and Soweto’s Finest, who traded the stage for paintbrushes, cleaning equipment and quality time with the children.
Throughout the day, artists and organisers rolled up their sleeves to paint and clean the orphanage, while also creating joyful memories through games, conversations and laughter.
But perhaps the most meaningful gift came through words of hope.
The musicians took time to inspire the children, encouraging them to believe in their dreams, embrace education, work hard and recognise that their circumstances do not define their future.
