BLOEMFONTEIN – The spirit of sport, teamwork and youthful enthusiasm was on full display when PEP hosted a vibrant PEP Mini Netball Festival at Onze Rust Primary School on 23 May, bringing together schools from across the Bloemfontein region for a memorable day of netball development and fun.

The festival formed part of the nationwide PEP Mini Netball programme, an initiative dedicated to growing the sport at grassroots level while creating opportunities for young girls to discover their potential both on and off the court.

Learners participated in a range of interactive activities and friendly matches designed to introduce them to the fundamentals of netball in an enjoyable and supportive environment. The event not only encouraged participation but also helped young players develop confidence, teamwork and valuable sporting skills.

Adding to the excitement were the popular PEP Mini Netball mascots, who kept learners entertained throughout the day with lively interactions, creating an atmosphere filled with energy, laughter and community spirit.

Teachers, coaches and supporters applauded the festival for its positive impact on young athletes, highlighting the importance of creating accessible sporting opportunities that inspire participation from an early age.

“These festivals are about more than just netball; they are about empowering young people, building confidence and fostering a lifelong love for sport,” organisers said.

Through the continued success of the PEP Mini Netball programme, thousands of young players across South Africa are being introduced to the game, helping to strengthen the future of netball while promoting healthy lifestyles and personal development.

As the programme continues to expand its reach nationwide, events such as the Bloemfontein festival demonstrate the powerful role sport can play in uniting communities, nurturing talent and empowering the next generation of athletes.
