Cape Town, South Africa – April 2026 – Thabang Mosiako has sent a clear warning to his rivals ahead of the prestigious Totalsports Two Oceans Half Marathon, delivering a series of standout performances that underline his intent to reclaim the title.
The Nedbank Running Club star is targeting an eighth gold medal and a second victory at the iconic race, set for Sunday, 12 April 2026. His recent form suggests he is peaking at precisely the right time.
Dominant Form Signals Intent
Mosiako’s most recent triumph came at the Phakamile Mabija Human Rights Half Marathon, where he stormed to victory in 1:04:37, setting a new course record. The race, held at Kimberley Boys High School on Human Rights Day, saw him finish 1 minute and 23 seconds ahead of teammate Joel Mmone.
Reflecting on the performance, Mosiako expressed satisfaction with both the race conditions and his execution:
“What a great race. The road was smooth and safe, it was well organised and everything was indeed perfect. Overall, I am happy with my performance.”
The victory added to a growing list of strong performances in recent months, reinforcing his credentials as one of South Africa’s top distance runners.

International Pedigree and Rising Confidence
Earlier in March, Mosiako competed at the HOKA Paris Half Marathon, clocking an impressive 1:00:44—the third fastest 21km time of his career—to finish third.
The 2023 SA Half Marathon Champion has consistently demonstrated his ability to compete on both local and international stages. His transition into marathon running has also been promising. After making his debut with a 2:09:14 finish in Abu Dhabi, he returned to the same race in 2025 to place fifth in 2:10:49.
Mosiako credits his current form to experience and improved race management:
“I think this time around I was smarter after my second marathon. I took enough rest, that’s why I didn’t struggle with the buildup phase and that led me to the shape I have now.”
Redemption on the Cards
Despite his impressive résumé, Mosiako has unfinished business at the Two Oceans Half Marathon. After finishing outside the top positions last year, he is determined to correct past mistakes and reclaim the title he last won in 2024.
His current fitness and confidence place him firmly among the favourites.
“I’m going for the Two Oceans Half Marathon again to correct the mistake I made last year,” he said. “I’m just praying to remain injury free and to have consistency in training. I’m really happy about what’s coming my way.”
