PRETORIA, GAUTENG — Academic dedication, resilience, and a clear vision for the future have earned three exceptional learners from The Glen High School bursaries that will support their educational journeys through the 2026 academic year.

In a significant investment in youth development and education, Time Square has awarded bursaries valued at R32 500 each to Botlhale Mahlangu, Eunice Mungomba, and Oreoluwa Omotobora. The initiative forms part of Time Square’s broader commitment to uplifting local communities through education and skills development.

The three learners have demonstrated outstanding academic performance, with Botlhale Mahlangu achieving an average of 82%, Eunice Mungomba leading with 85%, and Oreoluwa Omotobora closely following with 84%. Their achievements reflect not only intellectual capability but also consistent discipline and a commitment to excellence.

Beyond their academic success, each learner embodies a holistic approach to personal development. Mungomba, recognised as the top Mathematics learner in Grade 8, is also an active netball player and harbours ambitions of becoming a neurosurgeon—an aspiration rooted in both academic strength and a passion for helping others.

Mahlangu’s intellectual curiosity extends into civic engagement. As a member of the school’s debate team, she actively challenges societal norms and aims to pursue a future in diplomacy, where she hopes to influence policy and global discourse.

Omotobora has distinguished herself across multiple disciplines, securing top positions in Social Sciences and Natural Sciences, while also earning recognition as the most improved learner in Economic and Management Sciences. With aspirations to enter the medical field as a doctor or dentist, she draws inspiration from the words of Winston Churchill: “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”

The bursaries were formally presented during a ceremony held in February at Time Square, attended by the learners, their parents, and school leadership. The awards were handed over by General Manager Ruben Gooranah, marking a moment of celebration and encouragement for academic excellence.

Principal Caroline Nel commended both the learners and the initiative, reaffirming the school’s vision: “The vision of The Glen High School is to be a superior institution of learning where all learners realise their full potential to become well-balanced and honest citizens—respected, credible, and equipped to meet challenges. We are grateful to Time Square for enabling these learners to follow their dreams, which begin with a solid high school education.”

This partnership between education and private enterprise underscores the transformative power of opportunity—where academic excellence is not only recognised but actively supported, paving the way for South Africa’s next generation of leaders and professionals.
