Thando Thabethe champions men’s mental health with the launch of Tha’Bhuti

In a vibrant celebration of Men’s Mental Health Month, South African media personality, actress, and entrepreneur Thando Thabethe has teamed up with Sorbet Man Hyde Park to host a unique event focused on men’s wellbeing, self-care, and style.

This gathering also marked the official launch of Tha’Bhuti, the inaugural men’s line from Thabethe’s acclaimed lifestyle brand, Thabooty’s. The intimate event took place in Johannesburg and drew together a distinguished array of South African talent, including actors Jesse Suntele, Nat Ramabulana, and Eric Macheru, alongside musical sensations Yanga Chief and Desmond Dube.

Showcasing a commitment to promoting self-awareness and mental health among men, the evening was expertly hosted by renowned medical doctor and mental health advocate, Dr. Nokukhanya Khanyile. “This month is not only about raising awareness around men’s mental health, but also about creating real spaces of softness and self-expression,” Thabethe highlighted during her opening remarks. The collaboration with Sorbet Man offered an ideal platform to emphasise that prioritising self-care should be seen as a strength, rather than a vulnerability.

Guests were welcomed into a warm and inviting atmosphere where they were pampered, engaged in thought-provoking discussions, and treated to a selection of refreshing cocktails. Introducing Tha’Bhuti: Comfort Meets Confidence Initially introduced as a playful April Fools’ prank on April 1st, Tha’Bhuti has since been solidified as a serious offering catering to the modern man.

Described as appealing to “soft brothers, the finest uncles, and the dads who deserve premium comfort with a little drip,” Tha’Bhuti is more than just a clothing line; it is a movement spotlighting the need for men to embrace comfort as a pillar of confidence. The debut ‘Coco Collection’ focusses on premium comfort, support, and everyday luxury.

This signature line includes a robe-dress hybrid designed to feel like a second skin, perfectly capturing the essence of both legacy and luxury. Handmade in South Africa, the collection features items such as underwear and sleepwear, specifically crafted for men who appreciate softness, style, and confidence. Tha’Bhuti represents an important shift in the way masculinity is perceived in society, inviting men to “take up space in comfort” and redefine their identities on their own terms.

Sorbet MAN, the grooming brand that partnered with Thabethe for this occasion, is dedicated exclusively to the modern gentleman. Originally launched as the “big brother” to the well-loved Sorbet Salons, Sorbet MAN delivers a straightforward and sophisticated grooming experience that is both professional and convenient, perfectly aligning with the event’s goals.

As Men’s Mental Health Month unfolds, events like this remind us of the importance of fostering dialogue around self-care and mental well-being. The collaboration between Thabethe and Sorbet Man not only celebrates new fashion but also champions the vital cause of men’s mental health.
