Two-day Standard Bank Joy of Jazz celebration brings thousands of music lovers to Sandton, with road changes, cashless payments and designated e-hailing points in place
Johannesburg — The stage is set for the 2026 Standard Bank Joy of Jazz Festival, with thousands of jazz enthusiasts expected to converge on the Sandton Convention Centre for two days of live music, culture and entertainment on Friday, 25 September, and Saturday, 26 September 2026.
With the Sandton precinct preparing for a significant influx of festivalgoers, organisers are urging patrons and motorists to plan their journeys in advance and take note of temporary traffic measures around the venue.
The official festival information indicates that the event is expected to draw nearly 20,000 people over the two-day weekend, making traffic management and alternative transport arrangements particularly important.
Road closures and traffic changes
Festivalgoers travelling by car should expect changes to normal traffic patterns around the Sandton Convention Centre.
Maude Street will be diverted into one-way traffic between 5th Street and West Street, while lanes closest to the Convention Centre will be affected by closures.
On West Street, the lanes nearest the Convention Centre will be closed, while the lanes further from the venue will remain open for two-way traffic.
Similar arrangements will apply on Alice Lane, where lanes closest to the Convention Centre will be closed, with the remaining lanes continuing to accommodate two-way traffic.

Smoking is not permitted inside the venue.
