CAPE TOWN — Learners and teachers at Parow East Primary School are set to benefit from improved access to technology and classroom resources following a donation of three laptops and six whiteboards by Engen Tierberg Convenience Centre.
The resources were handed over to the school on Thursday, 20 August 2026, as part of the Tierberg team’s ongoing commitment to supporting education and the wider Parow community.
The initiative was made possible through Engen’s Community Dealer Partnership Programme (DCPP), which enables Engen dealers to partner with local organisations and schools on initiatives designed to uplift, educate and empower communities surrounding their service stations.
For Parow East Primary, the latest contribution is expected to have a direct impact on day-to-day teaching and learning.
The three laptops will provide teachers and learners with additional digital resources, while the six whiteboards will support more interactive classroom instruction and help educators create a more engaging learning environment.
Investing in the classroom
Parow East Primary School principal Mrs M Heyns welcomed the contribution, saying access to technology and appropriate classroom equipment can play an important role in improving the educational experience.
“We are grateful to Engen and the Tierberg team for recognising the needs of our school and for their continued support,” said Heyns.
The donation also reinforces a relationship between the school and Engen Tierberg that has developed over several years.
Engen Tierberg dealer Ralph Bochnig has supported the school through a range of initiatives, including a R10 000 financial contribution, lunch packs for a school sports tour, assistance with Mini-Sports Day, contributions towards World Teachers’ Day and support for Colour Run activities and the Bread for My Buddy campaign.
Bochnig said the latest donation was another practical way of supporting educators and learners.
“Our relationship with Parow East Primary School has developed over time, and we are pleased to continue supporting the school in practical ways,” he said.
“We believe education is an important investment in the future, and we hope these laptops and whiteboards will make a lasting difference to teachers and learners.”
Supporting a community beyond the classroom
Parow East Primary serves learners from Parow and surrounding suburbs, with many learners coming from low-income households.
Beyond its core educational role, the school also provides support to learners and families experiencing financial challenges, including initiatives aimed at addressing food insecurity.
The partnership with Engen Tierberg therefore extends beyond the provision of physical resources, reflecting a broader commitment to supporting the wellbeing and development of the surrounding community.
For Engen, partnerships between dealers and community institutions form an important part of its social investment approach.
Engen CSI Manager Olwethu Mdabula commended Bochnig and the Tierberg team for maintaining their relationship with the school and continuing to identify practical ways to make a difference.
