JOHANNESBURG – The 2026/27 Betway Premiership season got off to a spectacular start this past weekend as South African football celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Premier Soccer League (PSL), with thousands of supporters treated to an unforgettable opening ceremony and the return of Betway’s popular S’bonise & Win campaign.
The season opener not only celebrated three decades of the country’s premier football competition but also rewarded the passionate supporters who continue to create the vibrant atmosphere that has become synonymous with South African football.
Five lucky fans walked away with R30,000 each during the opening weekend after having their winnings tripled through their active Betway accounts, adding even more excitement to the launch of the landmark anniversary season.
Celebrating the heartbeat of South African football
The colourful S’bonise & Win campaign has once again placed supporters at the centre of the Betway Premiership experience, recognising the energy, passion and creativity they bring to stadiums across the country every matchday.
Fans dressed in their club’s colours and eye-catching matchday regalia were rewarded for proudly displaying their team spirit as the campaign made its highly anticipated return.
This season’s enhanced prize forms part of the Premier Soccer League’s 30-year celebrations, with supporters now standing a chance to win R30,000 during televised league fixtures.
Bigger prizes for loyal supporters
Speaking after the successful launch of the campaign, Jason Shield, Head of Sponsorship at Betway, said the initiative remains dedicated to celebrating the fans who give South African football its unique identity.
“The return of S’bonise & Win is about celebrating the supporters who bring South African football to life every matchday,” said Shield.
“As we join the Premier Soccer League in celebrating its 30th anniversary, we’re proud to reward fans even more this season. This is just the beginning, and we look forward to rewarding many more supporters in the months ahead.”

Every matchday brings another opportunity
The Betway S’bonise & Win campaign will run throughout the entire 2026/27 Betway Premiership season across all televised league matches.
At every televised fixture, one lucky supporter will be selected live from the crowd to win R10,000, with the prize automatically increasing to R30,000 for fans who have an active Betway account.
The initiative encourages supporters to embrace the excitement of matchday by wearing their club’s most creative colours, jerseys and supporter gear for a chance to become the next big winner.
A fitting celebration of 30 years
The campaign adds another exciting dimension to what promises to be a memorable season as the Premier Soccer League commemorates three decades of producing world-class football, unforgettable rivalries and iconic sporting moments.
Over the past 30 years, the PSL has grown into one of Africa’s most successful and professionally managed football leagues, producing generations of stars while uniting millions of supporters across the country.
As clubs begin their quest for league honours this season, Betway’s S’bonise & Win campaign ensures that the spotlight will not only shine on the players on the pitch but also on the passionate supporters whose unwavering loyalty continues to define the spirit of South African football.
For football fans, every televised Betway Premiership match this season now offers more than just 90 minutes of action—it could also be worth R30,000.
